Reeves Wiedeman Company
Designing one of the first LEED Gold buildings in Kansas City
The Reeves Wiedeman Company took advantage of historic tax credits to transform the historic OH Dean Building into its new showroom and corporate headquarters. The company, a plumbing-supply wholesaler, traded its former location in Lenexa for the heart of the Kansas City urban core. Helix restored the 14,000-square-foot, two-story structure into a space that celebrates the company’s trade with a variety of copper-clad surfaces – from the entry vestibule and elevator shaft, to an exterior balcony and a transaction countertop. Wanting to remain involved in the daily rhythm of the retail space, the company’s executives work above the showroom and remain connected to clients through an opening that also brings daylight into the retail space from the skylight above.

“The big deal for us is being able to work in and enjoy the incredible space you created for us from a broken down eyesore of a building. I think I can also speak for other business people in the Main St corridor, our Hyde Park neighbors and the rest of the community who are also enjoying the results of your work. Thank you for doing such a great job, one that all of us will always be proud of!”
