Mid-Continent Public Libraries (MCPL)
Creating 21st century libraries for one of the largest systems in the country
One of the largest library systems in the United States, Mid-Continent Public Libraries serves over 780,000 people across three Missouri counties. Helix Architecture + Design in association with Sapp Architects is updating all thirty-one existing branches and designing two new locations.
The new and renovated branches are designed to embody the future of libraries as community hubs. Branch locations are designed to enrich citizens by expanding access to technology, community events and areas for children, teens and adults.
Helix has worked closely with MCPL to develop interiors standards which will guide the design of the individual branches while maintaining a cohesive look-and-feel across the library-system. The design team will complete these projects over three phases with anticipated completion by 2022.
