Celebrating history and character with materials that imbue the surrounding context
As the City of Aurora experienced a major development boom in the 1950s and 1960s, its commercial development adopted unique, mid-century styles that are still seen throughout the area today. Aurora14U aims to progress the iconic mid-century architecture into a contemporary interpretation that also utilizes traditional Colorado building materials, such as terracotta red, soft whites, and textured stone.

The eye-catching signage and geometric roof lines of the 1950s are playfully incorporated in Aurora14U’s public entries and common areas. Pops of color through art, furniture, signage, and mid-century patterns nod to the quirkiness of the surrounding Colfax architecture of the era. To balance the bright design elements, the remaining interiors feature an otherwise subdued and sophisticated color palette.
